HORSE, n. The founder and conservator of civilization.
What should we do without the steed—
The good strong steed, the friendly steed?
He bore us from barbaric night
Up the steep slope and into light—
He served the purpose of our need.
All honor to the noble horse—
The friendly horse, the faithful horse!
His saddle is Dominion’s seat—
They say in France he’s good to eat.
I’ll back him — yea, I will indorse!
